Made the Montrose loop today 2/28/10. The Rail Trail from Tractor Supply to Pump-N-Pantry was mainly bumps most of the way making for rough riding. The trail to South Montrose was good with some narrow spots. The woods that was rough and bare last weekend was snow covered and good riding. The route out of South Montrose to Salt Springs was good riding with the fields deep with snow. Staying on the trail was easy riding and enjoyable. The mountain area that was bare and rough last weekend was snow covered and very easy to navigate. From the mountain area on into Salt Springs had plenty of snow and was wide where the sleds had riden and relatively smooth. From Salt Springs into Snake Creek Marine was snow covered and again easy riding. From Snake Creek Marine on over to Franklin Hill was all snow covered and the trail was very easy to ride with plenty of width to the trail and realitively wide. From Franklin Hill to Arcadia was smooth riding and we ran across about 8-10 sleds going the other way. From Arcadia over to the Goff farm the trail agains was relatively smooth and had good snow coverage. From the Goff farm over to Tractor Supply it was easy riding and plenty of width to the trail again with deep snow off of the trail.
Note: Some of the steep uphill sections are being spun up and getting rough. Also the section out of South Montrose where the bridge was washed out and the bypass put in place can be difficult to get over sp watch those areas.
