Alford to Montrose Update

I was only going to go to Tiffany Corners to Alford today, but needed fuel, so I ran into Montrose. I took along my chain saw because I knew that there were areas of the trail system that need saw attention. The trail from Rose Road to Montrose is in pretty good condition, other that from Heart Lake to Tiffany Corners. There is a lot of brush along the trail and makes the trail blind to on coming traffic, so use caution.

ATTENTION: BILL LAWRENCE HAS INSTALLED GATES AT HIS PROPERTY. USE EXTREME CAUTION, THESE GATES ARE NARROW AND TIGHT. SLOW DOWN AND STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Montrose, behind McDonalds, where the trails drops off of the old rail bed, there is an area that needs attention. There is a large rock that protrudes out of the trail and I believe if not repaired, will be tearing up a lot of tracks. The drop on this rock is about 12” and the rock is very jagged, so use caution if we do not get it fixed. I am willing to get in there with my compact tractor and try to fix it, but I will need the ability to get in there off of one of the land owners property, and I don’t know anyone up there. I would like to come in from the motel end if possible and work it down hill to fill in below the rock.

The trail system from Rose Road to Alford is in pretty good shape. There was some trees that were over hanging the trail that had to be cut up, but someone already did that. Thank you to whoever did that. I did clean up some areas of minor branches and small trees, but generally there wasn’t to much to do since a lot of that was done in the early spring. The lower half towards Alford also has brush, so again use caution and watch out for on coming traffic.

Hi everyone,

Make sure you check out face book, I not sure, but I think Rick set it up. Another good job has been for the club. I have posted some photo’s that I took on the ride on March 6, 2010. Some of the photo’s may appear to be blurry, my apologize, it was hard taking pictures on the fly, some just because I’m not good at it. Sorry, but we did have a good time, and the feast was terrific, and those thanks are for John and his family. They are terrific hosts.
