Well, I guess it is appropriate that I would be the first introduction since I created the forum.

My name is Rick Meder and I am from South Florida. Yes, you read correctly… I’m one of the very few crazy people that leave the South to head North to the snow for the winter! I try to make it up here from early January through to early March depending on work and family schedules. I get out riding every second I can and the rest of the time you will find me over at Elk skiing… oh, and working . My wife Jessica, my son Aidan (3 years old), and now my daughter Ashley Rose (8 weeks old) love spending as much time up here as possible. We usually make it up for a bit in the summer and occasionally in the Fall as well. Our family cabin was the first on Upper Lake (the original cottage was built over 100 years ago now!) and I have spent a good amount of time up here ever since I was baby.

I built the SCSA-PA.com website a couple years ago for the club and I decided that a forum would be a great addition. I’m really hoping that the forums get used more than the blog and photo galleries. I think it will as it is very simple to use. If anyone has any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask!

See you on the trails!

Rick

I joined in September and have been waiting for the snow to stay long enough to come up riding. I finally made it on Saturday. I left the pump and rode towards rt 11, then down over the hill, up the tracks- couldn’t figure out where the trail went after the wooden bridge on the tracks, back up the hill, past pump, crossed by PJ’s, came to a dirt road and wasn’t sure where to go, took another trail thru some fields, and turned around. Just over 50 miles.
Plenty of snow for the most part, awesome land and terrain. I was riding solo cause my wife couldn’t go and I never talked my buddies into buying the sticker. Next year you’ll have some more members, I have to get them up there. I know your working on maps and hope to see some by next riding season. A lot more miles would have been put on yesterday if I knew where I was.
Good job on the trails and the trail system I enjoyed them a lot and hope to ride them more.
Thank you
